Polyurethane Spray Foam

Polyurethane spray foam is a relatively new invention which has revolutionized the insulation industry. That’s because as insulation polyurethane spray foam excels in every category. It has a high R-value–which means it is highly resistant to heat flow. This brings down heating and cooling costs which can save building owners a lot of money over time.

 

To create polyurethane spray foam two chemicals, isocyanate and polyol resin, are mixed together. The mixture is then applied directly to the interior (or exterior) of the the building creating a layer of insulation that will last for the lifetime of the structure. Not only does polyurethane spray foam provide more insulation than a more common type of insulation such as fiberglass, but it is also easier to install. Fiberglass insulation has to be measured, cut and slotted properly into place. This can prove a difficult task in certain areas depending on the way the joists are configured or if there are any wires present. But since spray foam is applied directly to the area it is able to completely conform to the residential or commercial structure, creating a firm layer of insulation.
